Purpose
- Introducing the most recent trends of women's films of today - Serving as the Asian center for the international women's films network - Discovering talents for Asian women's films and supporting projects for Asian women's films - Promoting a perspective striving for a new culture whereby women are the leaders and the participants in sultural production - Seeking understanding and unity between women's organizations and the audience through the promotion of visual media activities of women's activist organizations - Creating solidatiry between local and international womes film community
Present
International Women's Film Festival in Seoul
IWFFIS, one of the greatest Women’s Film Festivals worldwide, greets the 12th edition which will be held from April 8 to 15 in 2010 with more inspiring and diverse women’s films. This edition IWFFIS will communicate with and encounter broader audiences with over 100 films by women directors from all over the world developing women’s issues and exploring cinematic aesthetic under the slogan of friendship and hospitality.
IWFFIS has given a hand to develop women’s talent and resources in film through Asian Short Film & Video Competition as an incubator for Asian women filmmakers and Documentary Ock Rang Award. In the 12th IWFFIS, Pitch & Catch! is newly organized in order to reinforce a connection with film industry.
IWFFIS will especially present a variety of programs for a discovery of Asian women directors and in a search of regional women’s issues. Asian Spectrum will focus on films directed by Southeast Asian women and Network for Asian Women’s Film Festival (NAWFF), which each member reached a mutual agreement to its founding in 2009, will be officially established in the 12th IWFFIS
